ALS: thoughts on freedom

Wait, WHAT?

“I’m going to be honest with you—I don’t know a lot about Cuba’s healthcare system. Is it a government-run system?”

- Presidential candidate John Edwards, in response to a question about whether the US should adopt a Cuba-style healthcare system.

  2. Sounds like he’d be qualified to be a Liberal or Labor politician. Knowing what your are talking about is not a prerequisite for that either.

  3. Well, I believe it’s partially a black market system.

  4. “I’m going to be honest with you”. That’s the point at which doubt starts. Distrusting politicians is now so instinctive that my first thought was, ‘Here comes the lie!’. I bet he does know a lot about the Cuban Health system, but his spin-doctors have told him that voters like ignorant pollies, or pollies to be as ignorant as they are.
It’s like Rudd Scoring. My Conspiracy theory is that Rudd never visited a strip club in his life, but a little bit of sleaze will make him more likeable to some people (See, he is human!) but won’t lose many votes amongst his hard-core voters, so he created the whole story.

  5. Personally I don’t see why Rudd was so apologetic over visiting a strip club. That to me indicates dishonesty.
And bringing the issue up before an election, also demonstrates the pathetic personal attacks common to politics which unfortunately must have considerable power to influence voter opinion.

Anyway, just wanted to air my extreme dislike for Hillary Clinton. I think she’ll be the next president especially with competition like Edwards (not that he’d be any better).

  6. I can’t decide if I like her or not.

Either there is a hidden planning tsar or a economically educated liberal.

“Hillarycare” makes me tend to think she would be a poor choice.

  7. Do this test and see how you like dear Hillary. She came near the bottom of my ranking.

  8. Its probably not carrying enough weight toward economic liberty, but the results are interesting. I got: -
Mc Cain 18, Paul 10, Giuliani 9, Fred Thompson, who is my personal favorite on 4.

I haven’t got much time for Paul, and don’t mind McCain, but it was refreshing to see Hilary and Edwards on -2.

The lowest scores were Tancredo on -6 (probably because of his wish to bomb Mecca), and Romney on -7, (I’m not sure why, I rather like the guy).
