Presidential Material

US Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee shows just how seriously he takes the issue of state-sanctioned torture:

HUCKABEE: I’m finding just out how long I can go sleep deprived. You know, running for office is sort of like being waterboarded, I think.

You really can’t make this shit up.

  1. Way to miss the mark on the humour there, Huckabee. He should have said something more like “running for office is sort of like taking a roundhouse kick to the head from Chuck Norris.” That I’d laugh at.

  2. Huckabee’s a clown but sleep deprivation is probably the main alternative to water boarding used by the CIA and other US agencies.

Most countries use drugs, electric shocks and beatings, so it’s not that well known. I suspect our Australian agencies don’t need to rely on it much either, although they would never countenance discussing it in public.

  3. Wow… just wow. Way to miss the humor factor. Now i’m seriously considering supporting John McCain just so he doesn’t get in, or has no chance.

  4. This is why we should have a Presidential Republic! You don’t get that comedy factor in Monarchies! (Except, of course, for everything that Prince Phillip says, and Charles is usually worth a giggle
