Terje,

Nothing odd at all and in fact to my mind highly commendable that you remain open minded.

I attended my first conference on AGW in 1992, and I follow the science, politics and sociology daily. If nothing else, reading layman's analyses like that of Bishop Hill ( above ) have taught me to to be a lot more questioning then I used to be when folk proclaim absolute certainties or moral declarations.

Off topic - I particularly admire the calibre of writing and thought of the lads at www.climate-resistance.org ( shameless plug of admiration ).

And nor do I doubt that world will be a different place in 10, 20, 50 years. So indeed best that people keep an open mind and analysing critical issues like the monster that is AGW politics.

Hence, I also thank Tim for his post. The idea that the world knows, cares or will even make a blind bit of difference if Australia ties itself in knots with a GG cap-n-trade scheme/scam is a hubris beyond belief.

I am sure if we actually curtailed our mineral, energy and agricultural exports to North Asia on the back of this, our esteemed customers who pay real money for vital exports might have something to say ( that is a post in itself ).

But in the meantime, if we just chase away our aluminium smelters, steel mills, cement mills and metal refineries to China or elsewhere doubtless there will be quiet appreciation of that brilliant strategy in some corners.

I am in agreement with Barnaby Joyce - this is a long, slow national suicide note.

JC - I have a lot of time for Steve McIntyre. I spent a few hours crawling his latest article and associated comments last night. Some might find this odd after such a long time but I'm still making up my mind on AGW.

Don't believe anything from Lambert and Quiggin on DDT. Both USAID and WHO were anti-DDT; this amounted to a de facto DDT ban.

That's fine Terje I wasn't trying to hammer you or anything, just setting the record straight about DDT.

Look, we'll soon know just how important the SteveM finding is, if it does manage to clean up the scamsters and get them out of the public eye then that's a good thing even if it doesn't much change the possibility

JC - I agree with your latest post on the hockey stick.

Regarding DDT my understanding was that it was banned for agricultural use but it was still permitted for moscito control and that the latter (via malaria) is where the deaths are attributed.
