Thoughts on Freedom

Convoy of No Confidence releases its routes.

The “National Road Freighters Association (NRFA) has organized a “Convoy of No Confidence in the Federal Government,” which will leave from many parts of the country, to converge in Canberra in time for the start of the parliamentary sitting in August. It is expected that its ranks will be swelled as it progresses along the route.

The organizers can feel proud of the effort they have put into it, with eleven routes announced along with timings. It is to be hoped that we will see thousands of vehicles from even the remotest parts of the nation, converge on Canberra on the 22nd of August.

The details can be seen here.

Those taking part are urged to carefully read the details of the routes taken and prepare yourselves, especially those covering longer distances. At the bottom of the post there is a section of advice, which should be taken very seriously, particularly by those from Darwin and the West. The outback has always been an unforgiving place towards the unprepared, the unwary, the unlucky, the inexperienced, and the lost and still is, trust me on that.

The only other advice is at this stage, bring plenty of warm gear to rug up with, Canberra is a bastard of a place at the best of times, and in winter it is worse.

It is believed that the founding fathers put it where it is in the hope that nobody would go there, thus legislators would stay away and leave the rest of us alone to get on with our lives. Unfortunately, air conditioning, government limos, and power lust have largely negated this.

Washington was founded on a fever swamp for the same reason, but it has been found since, that the type of creatures drawn to politics, in the main, tend to regard this as their natural environment.

  3. From ‘http://www.thepunch.com.au/’ –

“Spokesman for the organisers, Cate Stuart, confirms the protest is not aimed at any single issue but a belief that there is no certainty under the present Federal Government.”

Yeah, good on ya Cate, everything will be great and certain when the Liberal party is in government!

I would support a convoy of no confidence in A federal government, not a convoy of no confidence in THE federal government.

  4. I will be going to Canberra for two reasons , one; to protest against a fraudulant tax and two to see how the Liberal party commandeers this movement for “its” legislative changes regarding “Global Warming ?
Keep an eye out for descenting voices as we will be placing ourselves strategically throughout the crowd and will be asking hard questions to any speaker who rants on about Liberal this and Liberal that .
Collectively those of us with the ability to think critically have had enough of the LABORAL PARTY !

  10. Where will our food come from when we don’t own our land anymore and there are no more farmers ? Why is there no punishment for crime ? How will we afford the next power bill, let alone survive in retirement on the pension after our compulsory super has vanished ?
How much more grotesque waste by grandiose but flawed and dangerous Labour schemes before our country is broke ?
If we are unable to join the convoy in person we will support it from the sidelines.

  18. Well, I detect a touch of anarchism…

Anarchist Union Transport Operators Brotherly Organisation Towards Society (AUTOBOTS)?

Departmental Empire Constructors Encouraging Power Transference Into Cabinet Or NGO Structures (DECEPTICONS)?

“Every sentiment being has a right to self-Government”, LOL

I think we should embrace Optimus Prime as some have embraced anonymous’ Guy Fawkes outfit.

Good luck with the protest. You might simply have to lobby in Dobell however to get the same result, given Craig Thompson’s troubles.

  21. Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s criminal history and her hypocrisy with WikiLeaks and Julian Assange.
Julia Gillard had criminal allegations made against her in 1995 when she was accused of helping her boyfriend steal over $1,000,000 from the Australian Workers Union (AWU) and helping him spend the money on such things as her personal home renovations and dresses.

  23. If that were true Australians wouldn’t be voting these same parties back in every election. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Common sense tells us the earth is flat and the sun moves around the earth. What is needed for the proper governing of Australia are the principles of liberty and prosperity, which it took thousands of years for us to discover.

  24. Makes me sick to see the Liberals in the Convoy when they support climate change legislation too and generally are equally socialist with Labor.
